This is the last theme of our Series, Return to the Lord—A Lenten Journey. It is also the last midweek lent service. And on our last theme we will hear that the Lord doesn't get tired of calling us. Just like loving parents do. How many times must a parent call a child to come home, to clean a room, or simply to listen? How often children do not respond. The same is true for God’s people. When God spoke through the prophet Amos, He lamented five times that although He called, “yet you did not return to Me.” Our gracious God continues to do that for us, continues calling us over and over. Were He ever to stop, we would find only His judgment crashing down on us when we meet Him at the end of our days. But thankfully, He calls us to repent, to turn around, for He cares so much for us. He yearns to withhold just punishment and never tires of calling us back to Him. In the cross, we see the judgment we deserve meted out on our Savior. There is none left for us. There is no better time than today to return to the Lord, who does not tire of calling us!
